My Client… is a Management Consultancy within the Life Sciences and Healthcare sectors. Working with leading emerging-to-large Pharma, Biotech and Academic Institutions worldwide providing integrated business development and marketing platforms to ensure they save time and money in gaining new business opportunities. Due to an increase in productivity the client is now looking for an experienced Commercial Director ideally from the Pharma/Life Science Media space, the candidate needs to be “hands on” & be prepared to manage whilst leading from the front selling into key accounts.


Overall objectives of the role…Ensuring company targets are being achieved across the global portfolio by successfully training and managing sales teams to ensure KPIs are met.


Job Description

  • Ensuring all of the Sales Dept’s are hitting their divisional targets, monthly targets & KPIs
  • CRM pipeline management of the Sales Dept. to ensure there is a consistent pipeline of revenue to close
  • Closing deals for the Sales Dept. if needed and being available for conference calls to assist with closing global contracts
  • Going to industry events and conferences for lead generation, business intelligence and closing current pipeline
  • Heading all recruitment, training and development of the commercial team.

o          Ability to demonstrate and develop the team to generate your own qualified leads through internet research, reading of industry trade journals, networking, and referrals

o          Ability to demonstrate and develop the team to apply a consultative approach, by understanding industry challenges and tailoring a value-added package for your qualified prospects

o          Ability to demonstrate and develop the team on how clients can gain a return on investment by working with them as a client

o          Ability to work independently and be self-driven within a team structure

  • Having weekly reports with the Production, Operations and Marketing heads of department to ensure all agendas and operations are up to date and on track from a sponsorship perspective to maximise sales
  • Launching new innovative events and platforms in order to grow the P&L of the client year on year
  • Managing key accounts at our events globally


Expertise Required…

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience managing a sales team, preferably within the life sciences sector
  • Experience managing and motivating team with a high-performance culture
  • Taking responsibility for teams’ output and development
  • Consultative sales approach
  • Confident talking to C-Level decision-makers
